Taylor-Joy was born April 16 1996 in Miami Florida. She is half English mixed with Spanish She is the child of Dennis Alan Taylor a former banker and Jennifer Marina Joy a psychologist. Her father was an Argentine with Scottish and English roots. The mother of her is Spanish-English. The four siblings of Taylor-Joy are from her father's previous marriage. The family was originally located in Buenos Aires, but moved to Victoria when she was 6. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was a struggle as she was unable to study English in hopes of going again to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed between Northlands and then Hill House. Later, she enrolled at Queen's Gate School in which she was a ballet student and took part in school-based plays. At the age of 16, she quit school she pursued an acting profession. Since her early years, Taylor-Joy had a dream to become an actress and her goals were realized when she was offered a modeling job from Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
